Therapy is something we do together.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You might be wondering what you'll be expected to talk about, whether you'll know what to say, or what it will feel like to sit across from a stranger and talk about your life.

My aim is to make that process feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible.

There is no script, no right or wrong way to do therapy, and no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you need.

We'll start where you are, and work together from there.

What is Humanistic integrative counselling?

My training is in humanistic integrative counselling.

At the heart of this approach is the therapeutic relationship, this is what “humanistic” means. I believe that feeling safe, accepted and genuinely understood creates the foundation for exploring what’s happening in your life.

An integrative approach also means that therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. Different people need different things, and I can draw on different therapeutic ideas and approaches depending on you and what we're working through together.

We might explore

Your Past

Understanding experiences, relationships and patterns that may still be influencing how you feel and respond today.

Line art of two hands gently holding each other, set against a large blue circle.

Your Present

Looking at what is happening in your life now, including your thoughts, feelings, relationships and behaviours.

Your Patterns

Noticing the ways you respond to situations, including people-pleasing, self-doubt, avoidance, overthinking or difficulty setting boundaries.

What you want to change

Once we have greater understanding and awareness, we can begin to explore what you want to do differently and what moving forward might look like for you.

What brings you to therapy?

People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes there's a very clear issue you'd like to work through. Sometimes you simply know that something doesn't feel right and you want some space to understand why. This list isn't exhaustive. You don't need to see your exact situation here to get in touch.

I can support clients with things including:

What sessions are like?

You don't need to prepare anything before a session. You don't need to bring notes, have a list of things to discuss or know where the conversation is going to go.

We'll talk about what's happening for you, what's on your mind and anything you'd like to explore.

I'll listen, ask questions and, where appropriate, offer reflections or observations that might help you see something from a different perspective.

I'm not there simply to sit quietly while you do all the work.

We'll work together.

And you remain in control of what you share and the pace at which we explore things.

What you can expect:

Person wearing a red shirt or dress, sitting outdoors, holding an open journal or notebook with handwritten notes, with a ring on one finger and painted nails.
Person holding a large speckled blue ceramic mug, wearing a pink sweater and a pearl necklace, with a gold ring on their right hand.

A space without judgement

You can talk openly about what's happening for you without worrying about saying the wrong thing.

A pace that works for you

You decide what you're ready to explore. There's no pressure to talk about something before you're ready.

An honest conversation

I'll listen carefully and offer thoughtful, compassionate reflections when they're helpful.
