My Story & Approach
Hi, I’m Jane.
I’m a humanistic integrative counsellor working with adults aged 18+.
If you’ve found your way here, you might be wondering what I’m like, how I work and whether you’d feel comfortable talking to me.
That’s completely understandable.
Choosing a therapist is a very personal decision, and the relationship between therapist and client is incredibly important. You need to feel that you can be yourself, speak openly and feel safe enough to explore the things that have brought you to therapy.
So, here’s a little more about me.
A little about me
I’ve had a lifelong fascination with the human spirit and the human condition. I’ve always been interested in what makes us who we are, the experiences that shape us and the ways our relationships, emotions and past can influence how we live our lives today.
I’ve always been drawn to taking a deeper look beneath the surface and understanding what is really going on for someone.
Becoming a counsellor felt like a natural extension of that.
I feel incredibly privileged to work alongside people as they explore their lives, understand themselves more deeply and begin to make changes where they want to.
I have always worked with people, and for the last 28 years I have loved building my fitness and well-being community, helping people feel better about themselves, and creating a sense of belonging.
My friendships are incredibly important to me, and I know how healing sharing can be within a trusting relationship. I have also benefitted myself enormously from my own therapy, and will continue to do so.
Warm. Honest & Direct. Open. Down to earth.
My style is probably best described as warm, open, honest, direct and down to earth.
I want therapy with me to feel like a safe and genuine relationship, rather than something clinical or intimidating.
I won’t sit back and expect you to do all the work. We’ll work together. I’ll listen carefully, ask questions and, where appropriate, offer thoughtful and compassionate reflections that might help you see things from a different perspective.
I work psychodynamically which in simple terms means that we will explore your past in order to create understanding about how you function in relationships now, and explore how you may want to change things in your life.
And while therapy can involve difficult conversations, I also believe there can be room for humour and lightness when it feels right.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step.
Talking about your feelings and experiences with someone you've never met can be daunting, and you might be wondering whether you'll feel comfortable or whether I'll “get” you.
You don't need to know the answer to that before you get in touch.
We can simply have a conversation.
You can ask questions, tell me a little about what's brought you here and get a feel for whether you think we might work well together.
