JCW Everybody Movement & Well-Being CIC

I’m a director of a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), which enables me to work with a wide range of people and communities, including those who may experience marginalisation and adults with learning disabilities.

As part of this work, I teach a weekly yoga and wellbeing class at Wave — “We’re All Valued Equally” — an inclusive community where adults with and without learning disabilities come together, connect and take part in activities alongside one another.

My 25 years of experience in the fitness, yoga and wellbeing world has also given me a deep appreciation of the connection between our emotional and physical wellbeing. Our minds and bodies don’t exist separately: stress, anxiety and difficult experiences can often show up physically, in the way we breathe, move and hold tension.

This understanding informs the way I work as a therapist. I’m interested not only in the thoughts and feelings we bring into the room, but also in what our bodies may be communicating. Learning to notice these signals with curiosity and compassion can help us understand ourselves more deeply and find ways to feel safer, calmer and more at ease.
